[ with percy gone, clarisse needs an extra member to fill out her team. it just so happens that kaldur also has water abilities, but that's not entirely the reason he comes to mind (though it does come to mind eventually, and somewhat coincidentally). the heart of the reason is kaldur was there during the battle for the silmaril, fighting alongside her even if they weren't actually fighting literally alongside each other. clarisse had been so focused on celegorm then that she'd hardly paid much attention to anything else happening on the battlefield. ]
[ but it's the show of faith, the support for a trivial and meaningless war that could have been handled diplomatically if she hadn't still been trying to impress her father — be her father — that earns kaldur a position on her list of who she wants on her team. he'd been there for her once before, so it's now that she calls upon him again (though she hadn't technically called upon anyone before the battle for the silmaril). they've got to make up for the lack of kicking reynard's ass together, anyway. ]
Kaldur. It's Clarisse. Think we could talk in person? It's important.
[ well, that's unfortunate. she'd wanted to do this in person, but video will have to do instead. it's not nearly as secure, but what else can she do? it's not like she can teleport, and even her chariot won't get her anywhere fast enough. she can't wait any longer, either, not with the battle so close upon them. ]
[ it's with a heavy sigh that she responds, ] No need. We can do this here. But before I waste my breath, you're not gonna be away when shit gets real, are you?
I will be back before the first of the month. [ Diarmuid, bless him, will help make sure of that. ] Is there something you need?
[ As the feed locks and switches to video, Kaldur casually starts strolling away to a slightly more private area. His face hardens slightly. Team leader ready to hear a report, or ready to receive orders. He also switches his language to Greek. ] Shoot.
[ ah, greek. now that's more like it. it hadn't really occurred to her to switch languages, but, then, she might have forgotten that kaldur spoke greek ... if she ever knew at all. honestly, she can't remember. but the point is, greek is simpler and also much more secure in this case. ]
[ and as soon as he gives her the go ahead, she cuts straight to the chase. ] I'm putting together a team for Ridire. I'd like you to be on it. [ and kaldur just so happens to be one of the few people who isn't a demigod that she'd trust with her life, even if she'd never admit that out loud. ]
Gladly. [ If nothing else, it would be a good opportunity to show some Seelie loyalty. And possibly help with some damage control, if necessary. Oh, Kaldur, if only you knew. He trusts Clarisse a great deal with the safety of her allies. Slightly less so wit her own well-being.
Though, he would thank Ridire for the good he has done her. ] What will I need to do?
[ if there's one time clarisse knows how to put others before herself, it would definitely be on the battlefield, if only because she makes it her responsibility to take care of those who would fight by her side. the battle of the silmaril had only been different because she never wanted anyone to fight with her, so she hadn't considered them her responsibility, despite the fact that they were because it was her war. things won't be like that this time. ]
We'll head out with a troop under Tarz's command and take Caer Scima by force. With luck, and hopefully a damn good distraction, they shouldn't see us coming.
